January 21, 2014 marks the 1st year anniversary of army revolt against the repressive regime of Issais. On January 21, 2013 a group from the Eritrean Defense Forces led by Col. Salih Ali Hijay (Wodi Ali) stormed the Ministry of Information.
 In a defiant statement over the Eri-TV broadcast, the group called for the release of all prisoners, implementation of the constitution, and the resignation of Issais Afeworki from power.
The revolt was against the last two decades of atrocities, injustice, violence, and total lack of freedom in Eritrea. EPDP sees this day as a significant anniversary in the struggle for democracy and justice in our country.

Mr. Mesfin Hagos, a key member of the G15 movement of 2001 and currently Central Council member of the Eritrean People’s Democratic Party (EPDP), on 17 January 2014
met a high official of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Geneva and urged the organization to exert more efforts to visit and find out about the fate of 11 former Eritrean government officials and about the thousands of Eritrean prison inmates.
Mr. Mesfin Hagos, a leading figure in the Eritrean liberation struggle and former defense minister, explained to the ICRC official many details about the peaceful and democratic contents of the movement and the multifaceted abuses of the one-man dictatorship in Eritrea.

During the month December of the year just ended, 1,122 Eritrean refugees, 77% of them male, have crossed the Eritrea-Sudan border to register at the Shagarab Refugee Camp in Eastern Sudan. There were 134 minors among the total for December.
According to the monthly reports since January 2010 by Harnnet.org sources from the field, the grand total of refugees that registered at the reception centre of Shagarab has now reached 65,962.
However, there are other refugees who reach Sudan and escape registration at Shagarab which is not well protected from human traffickers.
Eritrean refugee arrivals both in the Sudan and Ethiopia were estimated at about 3,000 per month in the last several years. The UN refugee agency (UNHCR) reports that it has a total of 305,723 Eritrean refugees in its recent registers.

An inclusive Eritrean pictorial exhibition was conducted in Vadsø town located in Northern part of Norway in November 26 -29 /2013. This exhibition was organized mainly by members of Eritrean Peoples’ Democratic Party (EPDP), Mr Issayas Yirgaw Hagos, Mss Senait Samuel, and their assistants Mr Gezae Mekonen and others. Contextually, the exhibition was rich and overly attractive. Mr Issayas Hagos, the core element of the group had collected more than 90 various pictures that portrait the social and economic aspects of every Eritrean ethnic group, the irresponsible political administration of President Issaias Afewerki, the human and state catastrophe in the last two decades.
During the four days exhibition, youth Issayas, together with his assistant, and Gezai gave detailed  and thorough explanation to the visitors concerning the suffering endured by the Eritrean People due to the unbearable human rights transgression by the dictatorial regime. The preparatory group further gave a directive as to what measures shall be taken by the international community in general and by the people and government of Norway in particular in order to oust the dictatorial regime and its evil functions.
